Paul Torrez - Fly Fishing Guide
Fishing is a pastime for some people, a break from regular life. For me, it is my regular life. As your guide, I’ll help you disconnect from your everyday world, so you can immerse yourself in our beautiful Texas fisheries.

Guide, Husband, Dad and obsessed fisherman
My name is Paul Torrez and I am a licensed Fishing guide and ever since I can remember, I have loved to be outside. Fly Fishing is just a natural extension of that love for all things nature. Fishing has been a passion of mine since as long as I can remember. From Norway to Oregan, the high Eastern Sierras to the gangster infested stocked trout ponds of Southern California. From Charleston to Maine! Wherever I have gone I have fished! What began as a passion has turned into a day "job".

I'll never forget the day my Dad (who did not fish ever) took me up to a creek with one of his street buddies in the local foothills and put some power-bait on my newly bought snoopy rod. We may have caught a fish or two but that was not the main take away. For me, it was the experience of being outside with my Dad, getting out of my boring neighborhood, hiking in the rain (yes, it was raining that day) and finally stepping into that creek. That was my first real adventure on the water! It was also the beginning to what has become a lifetime passion, maybe obsession and for the last five years a career on the water fishing).

I previously worked in churches and non-profits. Then on May 7, 2013 I was diagnosed with stage II Brain Cancer, which led to two brain surgeries, 1 year of chemotherapy and 30 days of radiation. This experience changed the course of my life. Suddenly I found myself pursuing my passion for fishing to the umph degree. It was while in recovery that I was given an opportunity to guide for a friend here in the Texas Hill Country. We embarked on a 4 day trip down the famed Devils River. I have not looked back since!!! Let's go fish!!

I am a fully insured, CPR certified guide/service and am presently working to complete my OUPV USCG inland Captain's license. I hold a B.A. in English and Religion from Wayland Baptist University.
